Founder’s Favorite: Holiday Cookie Recipe

As part of the Hunter Holidays 2015 countdown, we asked Hunter PR founder Barbara Hunter to share with us her favorite holiday cookie recipe. She provided a recipe for Rum Balls, with a brief story that nods to the tradition of family holiday recipes being passed from generation to generation.

The story of the Barbara Hunter’s Rum Balls: This recipe was given to my mother by an Austrian Countess, a refugee who lived with our family during WWII.

Thanks to Barbara, her mother and an Austrian Countess, we can all enjoy this treat for the holidays!

Barbara Hunter’s Rum Balls
Makes 3 dozen.

12 0z Bittersweet chocolate morsels

¼ C. Sugar, plus more for rolling

1 Egg

1 C. Ground or finely chopped walnuts

3 Tbsps. rum (or more)

Pinch Salt

Melt chocolate and cool slightly. Mix together other ingredients. Add melted chocolate. Roll into 1” balls. Roll in sugar to coat balls. Refrigerate. When cool, store in airtight container.
